A change in weather conditions is expected during Saturday as milder air from the near-continent starts to affect Greater London.

Air mass back-trajectories currently show a feed of air which has passed over Paris and the industrialized area around Calais arriving in London from Saturday morning. This is likely to result in an import of particulate pollution. However, with emissions in France lower than usual due to travel restrictions, a marked pollution import is not expected. A strong breeze will also aid pollution dispersion.

Air mass back-trajectories currently show a feed of air which has passed over Paris and the industrialised and agricultural area around Calais will continue to arrive in London on Sunday. A combination of strong sunshine and local emissions mixed with a feed of imported precursors, required for photochemical reactions, will allow ozone production to build through the day. This is likely to result in 'Moderate' ozone in the afternoon, particularly in suburban and outer-London locations.
